SHOW SYNOPSIS
Based on the 1980 film and 1982-83 TV series, Fame The Musical is set in the real-life former High School of the Performing Arts in New York City, often called "PA." It follows the final class of music, acting, and dance students from their freshmen to senior years (1980-1984), before the school location closed and merged with another arts school to become LaGuardia High School. The musical is a tribute to the process of developing craft as a performing artist, and how the arts help to create both community with fellow artists, and a deeper sense and understanding of the self. Through music, dance, and dialogue, relationships are forged, students and teachers clash, and dreams of "making it" are put to the test. The musical has the heart and excitement of the original film, with new music and original characters that will resonate with anyone who has ever put their heart and soul into the performing arts.
Note: We will be casting adults as the students. However, high school students may audition for ensemble roles.
