AUDITION INFORMATION
This production will be rehearsed and performed in a completely virtual environment. The final production will be presented as a "Video on Demand" on February 12-14, 2021. We welcome cast members from any virtual location, as we are no longer bound by physical geography!
Virtual Audition Dates: December 13 and 14 at 7pm
Please send an email to: [email protected] and we will provide you with a link to participate in the online auditions, along with an audition form, rehearsal information, and information about the audition format. Perusal scripts are also available upon request. Prospective cast members must be ages 18 or older.
Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, is series of 9 one act plays based upon various topics related to the legalization of gay marriage. Ages shown for the roles are general ages, not required ages. Cast members may be cast in more than one role. The one act plays and roles to be cast are as follows:
THE REVISION
Nate: a gay man, engaged to Wallace, more critical and non-traditional than Wallace when it comes to their wedding vows (Age: 25-40)
Wallace: a gay man, engaged to Nate, more traditional and romantic than Nate when it comes to their wedding vows (Age: 25-40)
THIS FLIGHT TONIGHT
Hannah: a lesbian woman, engaged to Allie, more level-headed and logical than Allie, and thus more in control of any "wedding day" jitters (Age: 25-40)
Allie: a lesbian woman, engaged to Hannah, more emotional than Hannah, and thus experiences a bout of "wedding day" jitters (Age: 25-40)
THE GAY AGENDA
Mary Abigail: an outgoing, oddly innocent woman from Ohio who is the president of Focus on the Family, Family First, The Christian Family Foundation, but who insists she really likes gay people (Age: 50-70)
Stuart: Mary’s gay neighbor who tries to reassure Mary that the “gays” are not taking anything away from her.
ON FACEBOOK
Beverly: an opinionated but easily insulted woman who is against gay marriage but maintains she has many gay friends (Age: 60-70)
Bob: an out, non-confrontational gay man, friends with Beverly (Age: 40-70)
Shane: a young, opinionated gay man who can't avoid getting into Facebook political arguments (Age: 25-40)
Fran: a friend of Beverly, who is not Facebook savvy and encouraged by Beverly to come to her defense (Age: 60-70)
Oliver: Shane’s husband who weighs in on the Facebook conversation taking place (Age: 25-40)
Sheila: a young, intelligent lesbian, friends with Bob, who injects herself into Facebook political arguments (Age: 25-40)
STRANGE FRUIT
Tom: a gay man who came out in his mid-thirties after having been married to a woman, now married to Jerry (Age: 35-70)
Jerry: a gay man who likely came out in his teens or early twenties, now married to Tom (Age: 25-60)
A TRADITIONAL WEDDING
Liz: a lesbian woman, who likes to correct her wife Cate's version of how they planned their wedding (Age: 25-45)
Cate: a lesbian woman, who likes to correct her wife Liz's version of how they planned their wedding (Age: 20-40)
MY HUSBAND
Michael: a young attractive Jewish gay man, public school teacher (Age: 25-35)
Gabrielle: NYU professor, passionate advocate for liberal causes, and Michael's overbearing Jewish mother (Age: 50-70)
LONDON MOSQUITOES
Joe: an intelligent gay man who recently lost his partner of over 40 years (Age: 55-75)
PABLO AND ANGELO AT THE ALTAR OF WORDS
Pablo: a gay man, reciting his vows to Angelo (Age: 25-45)
Angelo: a gay man, reciting his vows to Pablo (Age: 25-45)
